Shanpoietin (recombinant human erythropoietin) is a glycoprotein produced in mammalian cells by inserting the gene coding for human erythropoietin. Erythropoietin is used in the treatment of anemia. Treatment with Erythropoietin results in improvement in hemoglobin levels thereby improving the quality of life in patients with chronic renal failure, cancer patients on chemotherapy, surgery patients and patients with HIV related anemia
